Love pain—it is proof you are alive. Love the inequalities of the heart, even if it scourges. Love hard even if your will is met with uncertainty. Love with a burning desire even if there is no reciprocity. Love with hope. Love with patience. Love with the strength of an army. Love with the courage of a soldier. Love with the wisdom of a philosopher. Love with the gentle tenderness of a mother. Love with the eloquence of a preacher. Love with the firmness of a father. Love with the innocence and purity of a child. Love with the vastness of the wilderness. Love with the unexpectedness of the wind. Love with the certainty of death. Love with the profundity of life. And even if all that love is met with resistance; if all that force pushes an immovable wall, do not weep. Love. Persist in that love. It will spill and find its way to the perfection it is destined to become.

If equal affection cannot be,
Let the more loving one be me.

– W.H. Auden
